Remlinger Farms: A review

I purchased the Groupon available last week, for 12 dollars. It gained 2 people access to the Farm all day. I purchased two, and my husband one. I planned on going on a non weekend day, and a non U-pick day. I wanted to do it as the family activity for Tim’s birthday.

So we went Friday. We planned ahead budget wise, knowing we couldn’t bring food to the park. We planned to not pay for Jason. Since he is 1, he was able to ride some of the rides if I had purchased him a wrist band, but I wasn’t really comfortable with the idea, so we opted not to. We arrived when they opened at 10:30. I gave one of my Groupons to Bex, and she used it to gain wristbands for entrance to the family fun park for herself and Katie. I used mine for Myself and Charlotte, and Tim used his for himself and Aiden. That was a total of 36 dollars spent to enter for 6. Normal cost would be 66 dollars. I think that is a bit steep, but I think the deal price is was appropriate.

We found this map near the entry.

This was a lot more information than the website offered. This is the a map of the Family Fun Park.

]My 11 year old (Bex) was barely allowed to ride the ponies as she was over 10, but since she was under 100lbs they allowed it. She was also too big for, the NW canoe adventure, the swing carousel, and the mini ferris wheel. She did love the flying pumpkins, and the spinning barrels of Fun. The Tolt RR was relaxing, and the Rollercoaster was a repeat ride for her. Even my 7 year old, who hates roller coasters, had a blast on this fun small coaster. We skipped the pedal cars, and the automobile adventure because we were tired and toddlers were melting down.

There was nothing the rest of my kids couldn’t do. They had a blast over all. And were sad to go home.

We ate in the Country Kitchen restaurant found in the Entrance/market area. The meals were a little pricey, typical for amusement park fare. The food was decent. I recommend the box lunches for kids. The rest of the food was just too big. I could have saved money by having everyone split food. It was ridiculous how much we had left over! There is a fun play area outside the restroom. Great for occupying during the potty break, my kids didn’t want to leave that area either.

The mechanical rides shut down for lunch from 1:30-2, and we took that opportunity to leave

Over all we spent 86 dollars between the groupon and feeding my family of 7. 3 hours of entertainment…bit steep. Doing it again, I would pack a cooler of picnic foods, and picnic on the green and re-enter after feeding my kids a much cheaper meal.

Jason Gets Dancy…

A Sunday Surprise

Unbeknownst to Tim, I stealthily packed a dinner in a picnic basket and shoved it in the fridge in the basement, buried some beach toys below the stroller, and packed a change of clothes for everyone in a back pack. Well prepared with all we needed, to have a after church surprise. We spent the mandatory 3 hours at church and all that entailed. At the end I rushed home and ordered the kids not to get out, but to used what was in the back pack of clothes, I had Tim change at home while I grabbed the dinner basket. The girls got Aiden changed while I was changing, and they slipped shorts on under their skirts so they could easily slip sandals on and be ready.

Once everything was ready, I drove to Edmonds Beach, and everyone was thrilled. I quickly made up some plates. Sandwiches, granola bars, chips and pink cookies, nobody complained overmuch. Then it was time to hit the beach! This was Jason’s first real sand beach experience.

In the end we left after an hour and a half. 20 minutes eating and the rest playing. It was exactly what the Dr. ordered. Fun in the sun and sand with just the fam.

Lynnwood Rec Center Pool, A review

Ok, so today we decided after a sort of uneventful Friday, we should take the kids to do something fun. The Lynnwood pool has been redone and open since April or so, and I wanted to give it a shot. Seemed like a good way to spend a few hours on a sunny Saturday.

LynnwoodRecCenter_big

Pros: The 6 and over set loved the 2 huge water slides. Bex even went back 3 times. The lines were easily less than 5 mins, and it was about a 20 second slide. The family hot tub was warm but not too hot, shallow enough, but not scary and generally good times. There is an outdoor playground (non water related) next to the waterslides tubes, directly adjacent to the river, this was a huge hit. The floor is made of this bouncy kind of foam feeling alternative outdoor ground. I enjoyed a bit of sunshine. The family price for 5 people for $13 seemed reasonable to me, and the 2 and a half hours seems like a large amount of time for the cost. Great for those who have the water longevity. I loved that the lap pool was separate from all the kiddie chaos with rides and toys. Seemed super smart.

Cons: We arrived 25 minutes before the session, and we were in a long line, that ended up out around the building. They seemed organized, but it was a long wait, and any earlier with little kids would be more annoying. I would love if someone would invent a self pay system outside, like for the movies! The kiddie playground seems not so little kid friendly. You could not walk anywhere without being sprayed by one water toy or structure. It is a water play and I get that, but there has to be more than 2 inches before you are splashed again. It was just too much going on at once. It was terrifying for my 4 and under set. The play structure to the water slide for kids was a full on assault. Definitely not for my 3 and under crowd. The river had a slow current, which was nice for some, but annoying for others. Compared to the Mountlake Terrace Pool’s river it was barely moving. The other side had a lap pool and a shallow area, but again was not fit for entertaining the smallest of my brood.

Overall, I would love to take the 6 and overs back, and let the younger ones play outside instead of pay to swim. I will stick to taking the 5 and under set to the Mountlake terrace pool. It is more friendly to the toddlers. Soon I know I won’t have anymore toddlers, and the Lynnwood pool will probably be one of our summer favorites.

Creativity with food

We had so much fun this Fourth of July. Normally we go up to deception pass and have a very mellow beach day (which I did miss a little). This year it didn’t work out, so we stayed here and carved watermelon’s with our friends. Meet Yawni, Tim’s watermelon creation!

watermelon

Then we went home and made a potato salad (which ended up a little over done on the potatoes), later named mashed potato salad.  A picnic cake was made, and cupcakes created. Then we started the BBQ crawl. We went to an Old friends for one of their fantastic bbq’s and partook in some awesome food. The next stop was the family gathering farther north, and We contributed another food creation…

baby burgers

Hope you all had a happy fourth!

I don’t think I have posted yet, about my new lovely fascination with my guitar. I got one, off craigslist. It’s a Fender, Squier strat. I lurve it! I have a few songs I am working on, and a lot of chords I can now play. Cool callouses to show for my hard work. I can play the acoustic (lent to me by Laura) but not yet as well. I got some stands for the pretties, and an official guitar stool, which has made it easier to play here at my little musical corner. Maybe when I have a song down a bit better we will record a few covers and post them here!

A Suite Experience.

A while back we bought the Groupon that got you a Suite ticket, and 10 dollars of concessions for one of a select few of available Seattle Mariners games. We bought two, and went on July 1st. I had never been on the suite level before. The best I had previously sat at was the Terrace Club.

2011-07-01_17-59-04_224

It was a beautiful day, so we took the convertible, and parked in the parking garage that is a bridge across from the suites.

2011-07-01_18-18-14_8642011-07-01_18-24-33_441

There was a lot of ticket checkers on the way to and from our seats, but it felt very prestigious. There were beautiful kitchen area’s for the suites, which included free programs and score cards. There were tons of articles framed and on the wall marking Mariners history. Which seemed especially appropriate for Turn Back the Clock night. It was 80’s night and they were wearing the uniforms that were the norm then. They also brought a Seattle favorite of mine out to throw the first pitch….Sir Mix A Lot!

It probably helped that it was an amazing game, but the seats were awesome with a great view, nearly behind home plate. Cushy, with a table in front of us. A night sans kids, with a great fan experience… Well and avoiding the mob leaving and just walking out through the sky bridge directly to the car was awesome as well. Well worth the full price, let alone the 40% of it we paid through Groupon. Big win!

A nice cup of….

LgChoffyad

Choffy…. My new friend. Ok, not too new. I discovered it this winter. Now that summer is here, I have been busy figuring out what to do on the days when I don’t want a hot drink. When I want something cold, or creamy, or decadent. I don’t drink coffee, tho once upon a time I loved it. I loved Starbucks, Frappuccino, macchiato, coffee ice cream and so much more. I miss it sometimes. When Choffy came into my life it was like the happiest combination of the decadence of Starbucks treats and Dark Chocolate. I have shared it with my friends, become a distributor, and now have written several creative fun recipes for all those Choffy lovers out there.

To order Choffy from me, please click on the side link for Choffy. It will take you straight to my distributor portal, and help answer any questions you might have!

Now for the Recipe. For Now, this is just a taste. The Choffy loves Summer e-book will be out very soon. I am so excited to share with you my new tiramisu, Choffy cupcakes, Choffy Ice cream, Choffy pudding and much much more!

A Choffy-Pop

popsicle

Either brew some Choffy standard strength and cool it, or use some left overs you might have from the day, about 1 and 1/2 cup. Cool in the refrigerator. Add 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream to thin it down, or 1/2 of chocolate to darken it up and stir till a nicely combined. Pour into molds, and freeze. For a Little more fun, pour a little melted ice cream into the tip of your mold, freeze, then add your Choffy mixture, and put back into freezer.

You might need to adjust this for how much liquid your mold set can hold.
