Summer Goals

I have several goals for this summer. Though most of them seem out of my control, most of the time.

1. Keep sane with 5 kids 10 and under, and 3 kids 3 and under.

2. Get organized (garage, desks, etc. etc.)

3. Potty Train 3 and 1/2 year old stubborn red headed son.

4. Get 6 year old to keep her room tidy.

5. Get 20 month old 100% bottle free (this means enduring spills and training her to drink only in the kitchen).

6. Get 20 month old off to go to sleep at bed time without the TV.

7. Get the 4 eldest kids to go to bed on time by end of summer.

8. Make sure the summer reading list gets read for everyone.

9. Keep fun in the mix (make sure the kids have some fun activities mixed in with the forcing them outside).

10. Keep the budget on schedule.

We’ll see.

Summer Fun…

We have been frequenting a FABULOUS donut shop, really a gourmet donut shop. We have been working our way to try all the flavors. They are located in the Mill Creek shopping center near the Central Market. We first heard of Frost from a family member, we stopped by to try it and added them to our face book fan pages. Then we stopped by on national donut day as well, and just about everyone in the family participated in a donut eating contest. Tim was 3rd for the adults (which was impressive because these were cake donuts with no frosting and no water). Bekah finished 1st in the kid category and won a $50 frost gift card, and has thus been funding the family tastings.

School is finally out. Katie was adorable at her graduation from Kindergarten. While it has been seeming very unlike summer around here, it has begun none the less. They say it will be warm today and tomorrow, which will be a nice change.

Jason is 4 weeks old today. He is growing well, and completely adorable and fairly easy baby.

We took him to his first Mariners game with his Uncle Dave and Cousin Shane in honor of Fathers day. We were even lucky enough to get a give away of the Ichiro and Griffey Jr. heading to Cooperstown bobble head.

Last week he got to meet his great aunt Julie and Uncle Ludger at the ever fabulous Szmania’s restaurant in Magnolia.

Tim and I took the girls to see Toy Story 3 in 3D on Saturday night. It was better than I expected (which is saying something)! I even shed a small tear at the end. Well worth the ticket price.

The girls have started their annual summer swim lessons at the awesome aqua club. It already looks like Bekah is almost ready to move along to the next swim level.

Today we are hoping to think of something fun to do in the nice weather. In addition we are brainstorming activities to celebrate Tim turning 30 next month, as well as our 7th anniversary.

For Love of the Game

I have been going to and listening to or watching Baseball games as long as I can remember. It was the first sport I understood completely and was able to apply strategy to.

I always stay to the end of the game. I never leave in the 8th inning exodus.

Even when we are losing by double digits.

I own three baseball movies, in my opinion the three best ever made. The Natural, Field of dreams, and For love of the game, and I watch them.

I was glued to the screen in 95 and ‘01.

I cried with Joey Cora.

I got misty eyed when the Kingdome blew (yes I watched it live on TV from my college town).

I booed and turned my back on A-Rod.

My darling husband and I had our first date at a game and our first kiss during the 4th inning of a game. The day I got married, I went to a game with my new spouse in our wedding attire. We went to games when I have been pregnant with every child except Charlotte. I have taken every infant to a game. My husband and I have both spent many of our birthdays at games.

I still get upset over shoeless Joe getting kicked out of the game but Sammy Sosa and Mark McGuire weren’t kicked and are still in the books.

I was proud of the ump and Detroit pitcher and the way they treated one another at the end of a heartbreaking mistake. Such genuine respect and kindness in sportsmanship.

I am no fair weather fan, and I am a dedicated follower of my team.

I was sad to see The kid go the first time, and to be honest watching one of my baseball greats from childhood retire mid season without a chance to say goodbye by attending one of the last of his games. I respect his decision, and the for the love of the game manner in which he did it. I will miss him dearly.

I am doing alright. My blood pressure has been pretty low so I haven’t been upright too much. Probably no better or new posts again ’till friday.

Count Down

Ready, Set…. Almost…

Dishwasher replaced! Socks finished! House clean! Clothes for kids and hubby purchased! Hair and nails done. Really everything around here could not be more ready. Our new plates just came in on our car even.

I have been miserable and grumpy and all over the place since last week, but really even worse this weekend. I have been having contractions and back pain and hip pain all having to do with carrying this baby for 9 months. My Due date is this Saturday, my grandmother’s 74th birthday coincidentally. I have the final Dr. appt Thursday. I really am hoping to not make it to the scheduled C. More so because I think I might lose my mind with the erractic contractions. A lot of them are actually painful in one way or another lately, and I can feel I am close to the tipping point. So hopefully the next post here is a baby announcement!

A Busy Little Nest

I finished the Nursery! The curtains are hung, and embellished with the owls I cut at Bethany’s, and sewed together to hang. The quilt came from Etsy seller and is beautifully hand made. Bethany made the cutest triple canvas set with owls, and Tim has installed a shelf, where the home made owl stuffie sits next to the owl story books. The mobile has been done for quite some time. I have replaced the changing cover with a subtle polka dot in the coordinating colors. We sat in about 40 chairs, and finally decided on the espresso glider and ottoman combo seen here. (In the process found our Christmas presents to each other at Lazy boy….mmmmm) A new boppy cover, and a back up diaper bag all coordinate with the room. I just adore how it all came together.

I have been nesting of course, and busily so. On top of all the moving. I caught up with my scrapbooking, each kid has an up to date digital scrapbook (ready to be ordered when I can afford it). Crossing that off my List. The Girls birthdays went off without a hitch.

I ordered and have received a Big sister shirt for Charlotte. I think it will be so cute on her holding her new baby brother. We have a pretty close to final plan on child care while I am in the hospital too. The announcements/party invites are even ready and waiting for a photo and a name for the new baby (the non personalized photo version below – too cute).

I have made, and frozen 17 meals, and accurately made both a Menu, and a cookbook of instructions.

I have scheduled cleaning help in May, June and July (thanks to friends!).

My bag for the hospital is packed and set aside.

The Master Bedroom and Bathroom is stocked and ready for recovery time.

The house is fully unpacked and gorgeous…

I have to finish knitting my socks,

but my beautiful blanket is done!

My Baby is 10

Bekah turned 10 this morning at 2:45 am. My First born. She is celebrating her birthday quitely, and probably playing the wii most the night. Here she is then, and today. Of Course she is eating whatever she wants for dinner, and the family party is a mere 5 days away.
