Wicked Week

Charlotte was wicked sick this past week. A fever starting Monday that lasted all week. When it finally died down, she was grumpier than ever. I think she has cried more in the last week than she did her entire first year of life! She was fighting off something wicked, as well as teething. It looks like tooth #4 is trying to make its appearance. I spent the whole week holding her, and babying her, and getting nothing done. Including knitting. Which means if I don’t start getting stuff accomplished I will start off the season, behind! My nausea isn’t helping. I try to knit through it, but its hard to not just curl up in ball! Thankfully Charlotte is back to her old cheerful sweet self now.

We made the annual trip to Stocker Farms on Saturday. We got our pumpkins, we played in the family festival area.  Charlotte adored the Corn box. Aiden had mass skills fishing. Every time he sunk his line in, he would pull up a fish. Bex and Katie had fun on the rides, on the bounce house, the bead station, the face painting, and did their best to participate in every thing they could.

This week, it’s Halloween time. In addition to our huge Halloween party Friday night. I have 2 class parties for the girls Friday, as well as trunk or treat Thursday, and the annual pumpkin carving party tonight. I am beginning the menus. Besides volunteering in the classes, and getting the car cleaned out for the trunk or treat, I have about 6 different Halloween treats to create.

I am making popcorn balls. Which thankfully can be done in advance. I am also making ghostly cake pops, I will do these in advance as well, I can do the cake ball part way before the decorating them. I will also be making caramel apples, from scratch, and those can be done the day before and stored in the garage. I have dirt cups (chocolate pudding in cups with crushed chocolate cookies and gummy worms), to make for Bekah’s class. I really am excited for Aiden’s birthday cake I am making a Boo-tiful cake, as close to this in looks as I can get! I got the idea from Martha Stewart. I won’t be using her recipe, but I will be mimicking her cake in appearance. After the pumpkin last year I wanted Halloween in theme, but birthday fun!

In addition Bekah is selling Butter braids for an orchestra fundraiser (to pay for her participation for the year), so expect emails, and please don’t ignore them!

  1. Laura A says:

Ok, I’m tired just READING all the things you’re going to do this week. Is it horrible of me to say “better you than me”?

    I’ll sit and watch.

Sorry Charlotte was so sick and derailed your productivity for awhile, but I’m glad she’s better now.
