My kids have been working hard. Thursday they went to my parents house and picked up well over 600 pinecones. My parents paid them a nickel per pinecone for their work. They wanted to earn extra money for our family trip we are saving for. They loved it too. They were so impressed with themselves and how much they had earned. Last night we baked cookies and made lemonade and set up a stand for them to work at, today at the end of our little cul-de-sac. While it is the middle of February, they stayed out there for 5 plus hours, and earned 28 dollars. They even want to do it again. They loved it. We have a chart with a square for every 10 dollars to the goal. They mark off the squares with stickers so they can see our progress and how far it is to go. It has been a great opportunity to teach them about tithing, saving for what you want, the value in working hard, being creative, and also math. Even Aiden is catching the working bug. I really want to pass on the values my parents gave to me. I took some pictures of the girls, hard at work you can see.
