We watched the episode of Jon and Kate Plus 8 a few weeks ago, where they went to the Crayola Factory with the kids. It looked like such fun that it might be worth the drive! So we let Katie think she was picking the place, and made a day trip this past Thursday during the schools spring break. We drove the 3 hours to Easton, Pennsylvania, and arrived at about 10:30. After parking, checking in, bathroom breaks, and finally getting up to the 2nd floor where all the good stuff is, we were ready for some fun.
After some fun at the photo boards, we went to the crafting section. Tons of stations with different cool projects to work on. Coloring, crafting, puppets, and more. There was even a hallway where the walls were plexiglass, so you could color on them with the markers. Aiden, not being to keen on all this, was pleased when we found a five and under area for him to get to have some fun in.
The girls loved the Watercolor painting room. We all painted, then watched as the paintings went through the drying machine. Next it was onto the lunch break at the McDonald’s downstairs. After we convinced them to finish eating, we went back upstairs to use our tokens. We spent lots of fun time in the Model Magic section, coloring and making sculptures. Even Tim made one, an Elephant, who would have ever guessed (:
Once the girls had used up all their tokens buying crayons and markers and doing projects at the factory (including coloring with melted/liquid wax!) we went to the Crayola store attached to the museum. Katie found a shopping cart (actually 2) and promptly filled them both with gifts for everyone she knows. Including a cat we no longer have. It took me a while to calm her down after her entire shopping spree got turned down. She was dead set on one toy no matter what, but I convinced her it was birthday time and it was a bad idea to get herself something at birthday time. I hope she has forgotten about it, because really it is meant more for Bekah’s age than hers. It was pretty cool tho. I only managed to get her out of the shop with a promise of Purple Cow Ice cream from across the street, and one colorwonder item each. After which we had worn everyone out enough to begin the 3 hour drive home
