When I was a kid…

Times they are a changing. I think cell phones were considered a car phone when I was little. No one I knew had one. Cordless phones and pagers were all the rage when I was in high school. Now my eldest, (about to turn 7 in a week) is about to have her first cell phone. Now before you go all omg on me: It is dispensed to her when she is going to a friends house, a party, or we are seperating (like at the mall). Also, it is not a social device. It is one of those kid ones with no number buttons, and lock on programing numbers. It is actually by firefly, but I found this one for very cheap on Ebay. No doubt she will be through the roof at her big girl gift. Not to mention it is too cute (I got he the one pictured to the left).  So althought I won’t let her pick out her own clothes, or get her ears pierced, or walk more than 3 blocks without me, she is about to posess her own cell phone… Alright let me have it, laughter and all.

Andy is actually a big, big fan of these for kids. At first I was “OM Goodness! I don’t want Noah having one of these!” But, he has since explained to me the safety in letting a child have one. Bring on the safety I say!

Hmmm. I’ll need some time to wrap my brain around this one. It just seems weird. My kids can’t keep track of anything. Well, LIV can’t keep track of anything. V’s hit and miss.

So, what, does it only receive calls? Or is there a button she hits to dial you only? I don’t really get it.
